The towable Stinar Model PS-813B/E Passenger Stairway, services a wide range of aircraft. The elevating stairway consists of two stair sections supported by a telescoping A-frame. Height adjustment is made by means of a telescoping A-frame mechanism and extendable upper section. A 4-cycle gasoline engine on the chassis is used to power a hydraulic pump that raises and lowers the stairway, A-frame and stabilizers. The engine features an electric start and integrated alternator. A 12 VDC electrical system provides power for illuminating the stairs and platform. The stairway chassis frame is constructed of steel channel, to which the subassemblies are attached. The stairway has fixed wheels at the plane side end and spring-loaded, dual wheel swivel casters at the ramp end, to provide smooth movement. The platform floor and steps are constructed of diamond patterned aluminum plate. Side panels are constructed of aluminum. A selfstoring tow bar can be mounted on either side of the chassis frame. The rubber bumper, located on the front of the platform, protects the aircraft from damage. The stairway is protected from harsh weather elements by epoxy based primer and polyurethane paint. The PS-813B/E is equipped with four stabilizer assemblies at the stair end corners to stabilize the stairway. Stainless steel handrails give the passengers a solid structure to hold on to when boarding or deplaning. Illumination lights are located on the stairways and platforms for easy nighttime boarding. Mechanical ratchets lock the stairway and A-frame in position.
